In creating Apollo man made diamonds, a diamond seed crystal is put in a chamber with methaneand hydrogen gases flowing through the chamber. The combination of high pressure and high temperature form acombined vapor of methane and hydrogen, which deposits itself on the diamond seed crystal. Then slowly by slowly,the particles in the vapor grow atom by atom taking the diamond’s structure and eventually transforms into a biggerdiamond.

The discovery of Apollo man made diamonds was somehow accidental. First, the chemical vapordeposition process produced small diamond chips. A diamond piece was kept in an acid solution and after a weekend,the acid had cleaned off the excess coal and carbon on the stone and left a clean, pure diamond. Later on, it wasdiscovered that the chemical vapor deposition could be used to create several gemstones and eventually the jewelrymarket was overflowing with Apollo man made diamonds.
